Space Connect – College of Science

Since the professor who taught me Astrophysics was one of the main organizers of the event, his invitation was the driving force that influenced me and my friends to attend the event. But on attending the event we realized that we would have missed a lot of things if we hadn’t attended Space Connect.

The event was held at the Great Hall in the Cresent Building. Entering the hall alone gave us the feel of being in space. The Dark colored sheet which covered the interior of the hall with models of outer space objects like sun, moon planets, stars etc. might have been thee reason for that sort of a feeling in our minds. A student welcomed us and guided us towards the presenters who provided us with a lot of information regarding space such as history of space studies, evolution of universe into its existing form, possibilities of what might happen to the universe in future and much more. The most satisfactory part was that each and every presenter was very well aware of the topics they presented and were very eager to answer the questions and put an end to the confusions we had in those fields.

The method of presentation of each stall was different which kept us interested throughout the event. The first stall explained to us the history of universe followed by the solar system and similar general topics. The other presenters dealt with slightly more advanced topics like the structure of universe, interstellar space, formation of nebulae, black holes, future of the universe etc. They also organized an online quiz at the end off the event where a very large number of students can participate at the same time. The quiz mainly covered questions related to space science that were  already explained to us at the event. Another convenience was the event timing starting from 10 am and ending at 4 pm. So we could organize our time to attend the event between our course hours.

I spent around one hour at the event and walked out of the event with a lot of new information in my mind. I wanted to stay there further but couldn’t do so since I had class at the time. The event gave me a lot of new ideas and answered a lot of my confusions. I am looking forward to attend such events again in the future.
